Biography
My paintings try to convey freshness and life through color and movement. They started asserting themselves in the radiant sunlight of Mexico. Throughout the years, I have used a variety of media to produce bold and vivid works, most often applying the colors directly with my fingers. In addition to paintings and drawings, I work with mono-prints based on photo-etchings, using photographs taken by myself, using such techniques as «Sumi-nagashi» (marbled paper) and «Chine Collée» (collages.) I spent various years in Europe in the 1980´s, where I joined the studio of Jean-Luc Barbier in Switzerland and attended Art courses at Sotheby´s and ICA/Christies in London. Back in Mexico, although active in the business world, I continued painting and successfully promoted myself through auctions and private collections. Several years spent in New York City in the late 1990´s gave me the opportunity to join The Art Students League of New York, where I first became involved with printmaking. I have participated in numerous group exhibitions and had my first solo show in New York in 2002, where I presented a series of murals and etchings. A move to Houston, offered again new openings: to attend the Glassell School of Art and to get involved at The Art League of Houston, while continuing to exhibit internationally. Background
